Happy Solemnity of the Ascension! Today is a Holy Day of Obligation in certain dioceses in the United States, while in most others the Solemnity is transferred to this Sunday, June 1.

Saint Joseph’s silence was not a mark of passivity, but of wisdom and strength. His quiet presence provided stability for the Holy Family and continues to inspire believers today. Men who follow his example embrace humility, patience, and a steady faith that brings hope to those around them.

Music reminds us that God’s creativity continues, even in the face of evil, capable of incorporating even the discordant notes of suffering into the symphony of His redemption.

This is the way our Lord looks upon all of our sincere, well-intentioned, yet stumbling and imperfectly accomplished efforts in every area of life: for while 'man looks on the outward appearance, the Lord looks on the heart.'
