Traveling to the Shrine

Although we are in Massachusetts, we are closer to the airports in Albany, N.Y. (ALB), and Hartford, Conn. (BDL), which are each about an hour's drive away. Both are easy drives, and also have fewer issues with rush hour traffic than Boston’s Logan Airport (BOS), which is over 2 hours away.

Ground Transportation

Please plan to rent a car, if you arrive by bus, train, or plane. We are in a rural area, and there are no reliable taxis, Ubers or Lyfts! Please note, even the closest hotel, the Red Lion Inn is at the foot of a 20-minute hike up hill. Please see the Public Transportation section for information on Buses and Trains to our area.

Pilgrims visiting the Shrine are allowed to drive their RVs and park them in the parking lot for the day. We do not allow RVs to spend the night on the property. Please ask your friends with RVs to respect these new rules.

There are a LOT of choices for hotels in the area. Note that any type of housing is available, if you plan far enough in advance.

We recommend Googling “hotels in Stockbridge, MA” first, as that will give you a map of all the hotels within 10-15 minutes, regardless of which town they are in. You can use Expedia, Travelocity, or another site of your choosing to see ratings for not only what amenities each hotel offers, but also for guest satisfaction ratings. We suggest that pilgrims CALL the hotel of their choice before booking online, and ask if they offer a discount for those visiting the Shrine, as many do. It may (or may not) be better than any rate you can get online.

We are not staffed to assist our Pilgrims to go through all the many choices of hotels in the area. There are about 10–15 towns all within 15 miles of us. These links (under "Additional Resources") will take you to the sites of the many Chambers of Commerce in our area. Each of them has wonderful resources about hotels, restaurants, and local attractions.
